Time Commitment: approx. 2 - 4 hours per week
The HSA needs your help! We have four open executive board positions for the upcoming school year. Please consider running or nominating someone to make sure that the school continues to operate at the same level in the future. More details can be found HERE.

Fundraising Chair (2025-27 School Years)
This position helps create and manage a plan and schedule for fundraising appeals (such as Giving Tuesday), opportunities (such as musical and 5K sponsorships), and merchandise (such as gear and yearbooks). Other responsibilities include tracking fundraising information and reporting on fundraising activity. This position oversees the fundraising working group with the goal of creating and executing new and existing fundraising ideas and plans.
Event and People Coordinator, Upper School (2025-27 School Years)
This position, along with the People & Events Coordinator for the Lower School, helps execute event plans for events such as the Fall Festival, 5K, 8th Grade Dinner and Show, Ice Skating Party, Talent Show, etc. The Upper School Event & People Coordinator co-manages the events working group, recruits volunteers to help run and staff events, and posts event details on the HSA website. This position focuses on families and events for grades 5-8.
President (2025-27 School Years)
The President is the leader of the HSA and guides the organization towards its mission of helping maintain, empower, and further enhance Penn Alexander School in order to provide the best possible learning environment for our children. This position schedules and runs general member and executive board meetings and sets agendas. With the Treasurer, the President has the power to sign checks and manage HSA funds and sets a yearly budget. The President of the HSA is also a required member of SAC and is the PHSC liaison.
Co-Vice President (2025-26 School Years)
The Vice President is required to fill in for the President when the President is unable to perform their duties. This position is responsible for engaging with parents, faculty, and staff to ensure everyone feels welcome, engaged, and appreciated. This position also runs the HSA elections process and helps plan general member meetings. The Vice President manages the Teacher & Staff Appreciation Working Group and the Nominations Working Group and coordinates with Equity Circle.
Terms & Details
Most positions are for a two-year term. No elections will be held if one only person is nominated for each position. Positions can be split between two people. New board members will be voted on / announced at the May 23 HSA meeting, and the term begins July 1.
Board Responsibilities
Board members are asked to:
- Check and respond to @hsapennalexander.org email a few times a week
- Attend executive board meetings 1 time a month
- Attend general HSA board meetings 5 - 6 times a year
- Plan committee meetings and create / update / help execute project plans
- Contribute to shared board calendar, documents, and project plans
- Get clearances
