Penn Alexander School

Sadie Tanner Mossell Alexander University of Pennsylvania Partnership School

PAS ePony Dec. 15, 2024
Message from the Principal

Please be mindful when crossing at 43rd and Spruce.  Crossing Guard Alicia Rhoden is on medical leave until March 10.  We will work with the 18th District on a substitute and share any needs for support that Ms. Rhoden may need.

Congratulations to our 4-5GR Science Fair participants!  Click HERE to see this year's results.  Selected students will advance to the Carver Regional Science Fair in the Spiring.

Are you interested in performing in the spring musical Frozen Jr.? In-person cast auditions will take place on Monday 12/16 after school (3:15 to 4:30) and Tuesday 12/17 before school (7:20 to 8:20).  Middle Schoolers should sign up for an audition slot outside of Ms. Zimmer's music room. Auditions for the choir will take place on Wednesday 12/18 before school (7:20 to 8:20). Reach out to Ms. Larese (tlarese@philasd.org or Ms. Zimmer at ezimmer@philasd.org) if you have any questions!

Operation Snowball will happen on Tuesday. Students will be invited to the atrium to select a gift through the district wide partnership with Eagles players, Jason Kelce, Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata who have donated the proceeds of their holiday album “The Philly Special" to purchase every district student a gift. If students would rather not accept the gift they can put it in our donation bin and we'll find an organization in need of last minute gifts.  Operation Snowball: volunteer HERE to help distribute gifts to students.

Please check the lost and found in the lunchroom by Wednesday.   Any remaining items will be washed and donate to the Nationalities Service Center.

Our next  Coffee with the Principal will be on Wednesday at 12:30pm. This is a virtual only session.

Winter Coat drive for Nationalities Service Center.  They are anticipating 100 immigrants and are in need of winter gear - new or gently used.  We will make our first donation to them on Thursday and then on January 20.  Click HERE for more information on how to donate. Drop off bins are located outside the main office.

Our best wishes for relaxing and restful winter break.  See you on Monday, January 6, 2025!

From the HSA...

It is a PAS tradition that we give a holiday gift to every teacher and staff member. We are currently collecting donations and will divide contributions among ALL teachers and staff. This tradition accommodates family budgets of all sizes and makes sure that PAS staff who are not in the classroom also get some recognition and holiday gifts. In this season of giving, let’s show them our heartfelt thanks for everything they do!

In the past, average contributions per student have been $20-30, and family contributions have ranged from $1-$250. Please feel free to give whatever is comfortable for you.

There are two ways to give:

  • ONLINE HERE

  • CASH or CHECK (made payable to “HSA of PAS”): You can send it in with your child -or- give it to volunteers who will be present at the blacktop entrance to collect contributions during the week of 12/16-20.

Deadline for giving: Friday, December 20th.
